Next Generation Workspace (NGW)

Currently, workspaces across the enterprise are overcrowded with cables, keyboards, desktop clients, teleconferencing gear, headsets, phones, KVM switches, multiple monitors, and stands—all of which consume valuable desk space. This cluttered setup often results in accidental cable disconnections, limited space for personal items or meals, and a reduced, restrictive work environment that keeps users tethered to their desks. Users are experiencing significant performance degradation, characterized by prolonged login times, extended application load durations, and overall system sluggishness—contributing to increased frustration and reduced productivity.

To drive modernization and integrate innovative technologies across both classified and unclassified environments, the program developed the Next Generation Workspace (NGW) concept design. This forward-looking solution reimagines the desktop experience by incorporating Wi-Fi and Bluetooth capabilities (where applicable) to enhance workspace efficiency and flexibility. Key features include larger monitors for improved data visibility and management, streamlined cable management systems, advanced ergonomic peripherals, and automated sit/stand desks to support user comfort and productivity preferences

Collaborating with our trusted partners, FedData’s Engineering Team developed the Next Generation Workspace (NGW) concept to address key challenges in today’s user environments. This innovative solution combines a modern, streamlined design with intuitive functionality. By integrating both wired and wireless peripherals, the NGW minimizes desktop clutter and maximizes efficiency—fostering a cleaner, more flexible workspace. The result is a user-centric environment that supports seamless communication and mobility for both users and technical teams.

The Next Generation Workspace (NGW) solution—available in both Thin Client (VDI-enabled) and Thick Client (on-premises) configurations— drives productivity, streamlines virtual collaboration, and significantly reduces cable infrastructure and power consumption. Thin Clients leverage Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) to minimize patching and reimaging efforts, while enhancing overall security posture by centralizing data and system management. Thick Clients offer a robust on-premises solution for mission-critical environments requiring greater processing power and local control.

At the heart of the NGW is a high-resolution, ultra-wide curved monitor that supports multiple desktop applications, eliminating the need for multiple screens and delivering an immersive, focused user experience. With integrated Wi-Fi and Bluetooth (where applicable), peripherals like keyboards, mice, headphones, and speakers operate cable-free—contributing to a cleaner, more efficient workspace.

The Small Form Factor (Slim) or Micro Form Factor (Micro) desktop is designed for power users needing robust performance for thick client applications. These desktops are equipped with powerful processors, ample RAM, and expandable storage, making them ideal for demanding tasks such as data analysis, graphic design, and software development.

  • High Performance: Equipped with powerful CPUs and sufficient memory, ideal for resource-intensive applications.
  • Local Processing: Executes applications directly on the device, reducing latency and improving responsiveness.
  • Customizability: Supports hardware upgrades (e.g., additional RAM, SSDs) to meet evolving user needs.
  • Offline Capability: Can operate without a constant internet connection, ensuring productivity even in limited connectivity scenarios.

Deploying a Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) environment with thin clients running IoT or ThinOS offers a streamlined solution for accessing virtual desktops. This setup is particularly beneficial in settings that require efficient resource management, centralized control, and enhanced security.

  • Cost-Effective: Lower hardware costs and reduced energy consumption compared to traditional PCs, making it budget-friendly for organizations.
  • Simplified Maintenance: Centralized management reduces the complexity of updates and troubleshooting, lowering IT overhead.
  • Scalability: Easily scale the deployment by adding more thin clients without significant infrastructure changes.
  • Security: Data is stored centrally on servers rather than on individual devices, minimizing the risk of data breaches.

The mission is to provide robust support for developers running heavy workloads at the edge using tower or rackmount workstations. These systems are designed to handle resource-intensive applications, offering a reliable solution for development tasks that demand high performance and stability.

  • Performance: Capable of handling demanding applications, including machine learning, data analysis, and real-time processing.
  • Expandability: Easy to upgrade components as project needs grow, ensuring longevity and adaptability.
  • Thermal Management: Advanced cooling solutions maintain optimal performance under heavy load.
  • Robust Support: Dell’s professional support and warranty options provide peace of mind for enterprise users .
